Hello, I am Melissa Shaw, owner and operator of Miss Melissa's House. It is a lifelong dream of mine to be able to do what I love, in an environment I love.
For many years, I worked full time and needed care for my two children. I understand first-hand the need for quality childcare and how difficult it is to find care that fits your family's life. I vow to treat each child in my program with the same respect and level of care I would demand for my own children.
Miss Melissa’s House cares for children ages 6 weeks to 12 years old. I believe in a curriculum that is developmentally appropriate for each age group and accommodates the individual learning pace of each child. Learning through play is key in every activity. How better to gain a child’s interest and explore new ideas than to get him or her involved?
Educational Background
I attended North Shore Community College in Lynn, Mass., for Early Childhood Education. I am trained in Infant/Toddler First Aid and CPR, water safety, as well as continual childhood education training required by the State of New Hampshire. I am a member of the Organization of Childcare Providers as well as the CACFP (equivalent to the School Lunch Program).
I am always implementing new ideas and new skills into our program. I stay on top of current state requirements and curriculum options and have lots of fun with the children trying out new activities.
